The Gatekeepers.

A lovely day today, even some Sun.

I called it the Gatekeepers because this area is called

"De Gelderse Poort." (The Gelderse Gate.) A name for

the area where the Rhine flows into the Netherlands.

I find those old trees are just the right keepers for this little gate.

New shoes.

didn't had much time today, ... some shopping.
While doing that, my old shoes broke.
I can fix them, maybe tomorrow.

This is probably the most beautiful neighborhood in my little town.

Also the most painted i reckon, all the people who came watching told me that.

Never i saw so much rabbits in a field as today, ....

Spoiled coffee.

Never spoil coffee in a waterproof painting bag!!!

It will ruin your canvas-boards,

and painting mood and so on.

I found the scene to great to waste it, so i just painted

it over the coffee stains, ..... :-S

First plein air watercolor!

So i tried it, don't even know how much it takes that the paint dries, .....
When used to oils this seems to takes ages!!

Maybe watercolors aren't such a fine idea in wetlands?!
At least not between showers i think. I will try it again
when its sunny and shiny weather, together with a real
easel, .....

A lovely day to get out,
they forecast heavy wind tomorrow, .... again!!
This is THE MAIN road through my little town,
you can see the little church our main eye catcher
and also the train bridge that runs over the IJssel .
Westervoort hasn't got a train station, at least not yet,
they are thinking/talking about it though.

Waving trees II.

Today the weather forecast prognoses: winds to 100 - 120 km/hr.
So not much for plein air painting, unless it's a air-traffic company.
I stayed @ home, and made a watercolor of the last plein air work.

Finally i had gone out!! but what a wind ( 7-8 bft.)

That exhausting, especially when you have to bike back

a few miles, .... aah well, ...... a great day!

This will be the last watercolor for now, ....
I am urging to get out, the weather wasn't that bad today,
and tomorrow it should be even better, ... better then i am at least.
Any way im of tomorrow for the real stuff , ..... plein air in oil!!

Lessons to be learned.

Wauw, slowly i it feels a little more something for me,
watercolor, .......... One new thing to be learned,
is NOT to mix to much in front,
let the paint do it's work and mix on the paper.

im not so much of a color-man, ..... i guess.

Still struggling with values, ....
Watercolors are soo different.
And the Dutch landscapes are sooo grey,
... somehow they do or don't match, those two.

A4 format on 300 grms paper.
Again one from a "old" plein air work done last year.

Went back a to some colour,
trying to get some more value in it.
Lessons to be learned, .... values, values, values.
And use a BIG brush as much and long as you can.
Ow, and i use a little Indian ink on this one!

First;

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everybody!!

One of the things i want to get into this year is painting with watercolors.

Did some tweaks today @home, ....... hope it's getting somewhere.
