"Daar, daar is de Rijn." Arnhem, Holland.

As promised the view I had yesterday, but
first I have to straighten thing up.
The building yesterday isn't called "De Tafelberg"
but "De Stenen Tafel." Sorry for that, ...

It is indeed a very strange building and was also used as
a water-tower, ... As you can see here the height of this
building is for Dutch standard enormous, so a good point
to build a water-tower.

The view in this painting is too my hometown (sort of)
my home town is exactly behind the large building, your
looking towards Germany here, ...

"Daar, daar is de Rijn." Arnhem, Holland.
(There there is the Rhine.) Oil on panel.

"De Tafelberg." Arnhem, Holland.

This is the second painting from today,
The first one is just 180 dgr. the other direction
and as you can imagine it will be a marvelous view
because this building (being a restaurant) is on top
of a hill, and watching over the valley of the Rhine and IJssel.

I will post that one tomorrow, ...

QR code sticker-sheets

QR code!!

I saw this on TV last week and looked around in Internet
and today I got my own QR code, my what? my QR code.
I don't know how common it is in the US but here it's just
starting to appear here and there. So first a little explanation

> QR code demo < a 2:50 min video explaination.

With some internet programs you easy can make them yourself,
and put them for a few dollars on a stickersheet.

Here a few internet QR code generators:

> QR code.nu <

> Kaywa <

As you can see you can just generate text or a hyperlink to your website
what ever. When created one it easily can copied to a sheet of plastic or
banner or even on massonite. I made some stickers of it, here my examples:

My QR code linking to my website page.

The stickers after cutting

Here you go.

On my pochade/openbox

And an other look.

And on my bag.

I know not everybody has the capability to take a picture and look on
Internet with there mobile (yet) but I think it's a great idea to use for plein
air painters, you'r not always in the mood to talk and hand out your business
card, and I am also not a person who has all kinds of advertising stuff with
me, this seems to be a nice inconspicuously way of showing some info.

Let me know what you think!

"Laatste keer." Doetinchem, Holland.

This is very strange for me, the place I am painting from
wasn't possible in all my life. All the green grass was build
and also a large parking for cattle carriers. Left from me
you should know there was a huge hall where a locale cattle
market was held each week. I grew up here, you can see my
street on the right, ... as a kid I would go up very VERY
early to see all the cattle and lorries that would load them out.
Sometimes a cow broke out and ended up in our garden,
you can imagine how that poor beast would feel after
running through several flower-gardens and hedges.

Now it's gonna developed and I reckon that everything you
see here is a one time possibility, ...

"Laatste keer." Doetinchem, Holland.

light with me, I just had to call it a day.

"Klaar voor kerstmis." Dudok, Arnhem.

As I told yesterday, a nocturnal.
It's funny that you discover such a town completely
different, where are the possibilities where are the lovely
spots. The greatest thing is that much of the clutter is not
visible, together with your own choices it's much easier is one
way. But still it's always a surprise what your dragging home.

"Wat een dag." Velp, Holland.

Foul weather over here,
but as Antony Bridge from The Pochadegallery.com said

"Its better to feel the weather and paint."

And he's right, you feel soo alive,
with the rain and wind in your face.

"Wat een dag." Velp, Holland.

"Watching the cows." Arnhem, Holland.

Passen op de koeien." Sonsbeek, Arnhem, Holland.
(Watching the cows.) Oil on board.
24 x 30 cm.

what a strange title, you probably would think!?
But when you look closely you can see that little fellow
laying on the grass watching the cows, ... it's really there
that little fellow and it's an artwork as well, some sort
of Fido dido, ...

In real it's an artwork from Alain Sechas, an France artist who made this sculpture
called "Lazy King"

Foto: Hans Broekhuizen.

I like it, it's funny and definitely gives you a happy feeling
seeing him lying around in the most beautifulest park in my area.

"In de steigers." Nijmegen, Holland.

Finally made it outside again, Nijmegen this time.
Together wit Jos van Riswick a great still life painter.

Nijmegen is a very old city, and it wasn't easy to find a nice
spot, they tend to end in some sort of "Anton Pieck" paintings often.
Not that that's so bad, but not what I intended.

"In de steigers." Nijmegen, Holland.
(scaffolding Nijmegen.) Oil on panel.
18 x 24 cm.

Jos bedankt, het was weer vanouds gezellig.

"Alles grijs." Westervoort, Holland.

Everything is grey around here, no shadows, no light, no colours
just grey, ....

Hopefully it will change soon, the good part is that you can paint
the more complexer scenes, the light isn't gonna change anyway.

"Kijkend naar de Waag." Deventer, Holland.

Been to Deventer yesterday. A lovely city between Zutphen and Zwolle.
A old city as well, with lots of narrow streets and a huge marketplace.

De Waag (that's where the statue is looking at) is an old building
where the weight witches in the old days, Holland was quiet and authority
and many people came here and in other cities with "Waag" buildings
to let them self weight, even from Germany!
You got an certificate too proof that you weren't a witch.
Not that we believed in witches but it was good profit, pity for the people
once and awhile who where weight too light, ... (Measured with faulty weights to
proof that there where witches, ... )

"Kijkend naar de Waag." Deventer, Holland.
(Looking at the Waag.) Oil on panel.

Snelstromend water. Velp, Holland.

I am quite thrilled about these two, not that they are
that good, but such a rapid in my neighborhood is quite
exceptional. I noticed it last tuesday just on the other side
of the river IJssel, ... today I had a look.

Marvelous, a real rapid as I see so often on Internet painted
by fellow artist like Larry Seiler, or Rob IJbema or others.

No painting today.

Need I say more?!

Not that I bother so much that it's raining, but combined
with the Sunshine in between it's almost impossible
to get a painting.
