"Koning Winter z'n baard." Lobith, Holland.

Exhausted but very satisfied, ...
A bike bike tour to the border of The Netherlands, there
where the Rhine enters Holland. I saw on Maps that
there was some harbours as well over there, and I made some
paintings of boats as well, ... first this one.

The last from today, King Winter is leaving Holland!
He has shaved his beard and hang the hairs all over the
country, ... "Goodbye King, hello Spring!"

"Achter de boomgaard." Westervoort, Holland.

sometimes things just won't work out the way
you want. This one it a good example of it,
I was strucked by the bright light that bounced
of the white house (not visible) but during
my session the weather changed soo often that it
was impossible to keep track, ...

Rushed outside this morning after
seeing a huge rain area approaching on internet.

"Twee wilgen." Lathum, Holland.

No fun today, more a struggle wind rain hail and bright sun.
I can handle a lot (I think) but wind, ... it's driving me nuts!

Had to tweak it a little bit at home, those little branches just
are impossible to paint with that much wind.

(Two willows.) Oil on panel.

"Scheepstattoo." Nijmegen, Holland.

It's awful weather around here, and after
those great days it's even harder to bare.
On the other hand is great weather to prepare
a few panels and look around on Internet to see
if I can find a spot to stay this spring, when
all the bulbs are blooming again.

Anyway I post the last one from the series of three
I made last Thursday, this ones the first that day
to be exact.

"Langs de Waal." Nijmegen, Holland.

To give you an idea how beautiful Nijmegen is from a distance
here one I made Thursday. To be precise this one was the second
that day, you can scroll down to see the third and finale one from
that day.

Nijmegen is very old they found even romaines traces, ...
the bridge is together with the church very prominent
for the surrounding area although it's not a big church, rather
small even but standing very high it's quiet a view.

"Tegenlicht." Nijmegen, Holland.

This painting really was from yesterday, but I
was way to tiered to upload it yesterday evening.

Biked all te way to Nijmegen (a large city approx. 20 km South)
and painted three paintings over there. So you can imagine.

Three a day, a nice title for a new blog, although
I think I am not gonna keep that up. I have no idea
how to upload them all so if you want to see them immediately
you have to go to my website.

someday, ... what a better day then today to do that.

So Rob, here you go.

"Ganzen II " Anrhem, Holland.

Not perfect yet, but I am getting the hang of it.
At least I can see where it's not correct, ....

You learn a lot by painting live animals plein air!
One thing for example lure the beast with correct food,
geese love bread but when the eaten it there gone again,
better to give them apples they have a lot more problems with
it so they stay a lot longer on one place. A second thing is
to clean up everything BEFORE feeding the animals, nothing
is more frustrating than cleaning your palette and brushes while
those geese are eating the bread. I think it's even smarter to pre-
mix some of the colors before lureing them.

"Ganzen II." Arnhem, Holland.
(Geese II.)Oil on panel.

Btw. Annelotte from the blog Ontspindocter had an idea on a forum called:
"Playing now" I thought it would be a nice idea here as well, ...
This is what I am fond listening to lately while I paint. (mp3 player)

"Geiten." Arnhem, Holland.

What no geese today???
No not today, although I painted them they aren't finished
yet. It was way to windy and rainy to get it right.

while walking back to my bike I noticed that they also had
some stables with goats, pigs cows and chicken in them.
So again a new spot to paint, especially during lousy weather!
Joehooo!

"Geiten." Arnhem, Holland.
(Goats.) Oil on panel.

Ganzen (nummer heelveel) Arnhem.

This afternoon I visited an other kids farm,
one in Arnhem. It's more how it should be
I think not as clean as the other two I visited.

My idea is that you have to stand with your boots
in the mud when you visit such a place, and I must
say, this farm was much more inspiring.

"Ganzen." Arnhem, Holland.
(Geese(number enormously many))Oil on panel.
24 x 30 cm.

"Ganzen." Zevenaar, Holland.

This is probably the hardest painting in 2009 for now
at least. Those animals really are hard to draw ore paint.

Tweaked it a lot in my studio, but I still aren't that satisfied.
