"Terugkijkend." Arnhem, Holland.

I painted this almost, ... okay mostly with a rag
rolled up into a fine point, but mixed the paint with
brush and palette-knife, in the end I used some brushes
and palette-knife to paint some details. It works very well,
more then I would expect at first.

This spot is maybe the most beautiful spot in Arnhem, when
looking at the Rhine back to the two main bridges, yes one
of them is the famous "market garden" bridge.

a change in the weather and I guess it's arrived here.
I hope not btw. because I have some spots I wanted
to paint first, ... so cross your fingers.

"Ingang tot de herfst." Ede, Holland.

Each time I visit a new town, I look anxiously on
google maps with the extra button on pictures to
see where I wanna look around, but still it's hard
to find nice spots, in the end it doesn't matter
you don't want to get home without anything,... so.

Anyway it's a gorgeous autumn, and even without a painting
I had a lovely day.

"Naar beneden." Arnhem, Holland

Did this one last Friday as well, I knew this spot from an other
artist here in Arnhem, but couldn't find it at first.
It appeared to be in the garden of our local contemporary museum, so
you can imagine that I was a bit tensed.

A special view, this street now, they building a new sewerage.

going to be a common practice I guess.

"Mijn huisje." Beekbergen, Holland.

I am back after a awesome week painting, and to be
honest the autumn colours are just getting started over there.

I noticed in my cabin I rented that the streetlights on the
camping where lovely white (a bit coldish though) but white!

So not having a TV or Internet what else was there to do then
paint my own cabin, .... besides reading that is?

Yes that heart thing is really there I took it with me to hang
it there, ... hehehe

"Hoog en droog." Arnhem, Holland.

Guess this is the last one for a while, tomorrow
I am heading off for a few days Autumn painting in
a cabin, without Internet and TV, just some great books
about art, hehehe.

For those who wanna to know which books:

Richard Schmid: All I know about painting.
David Curtis: A Light Touch: Painting Landscapes in Oils.
Kevin Macpherson (again): Fill Your Oil Paintings With Light and Color.
Trevor Chamberlain (always): Oil Painting Pure and Simple.

So enough to drool the cabin full.

Take care.

as well, but sooo dry that I didn't know.

And what do you know, there was lying an old rotten
barge, ... what a gem!!

Pity that I forgot my turp, on the other hand, a good
lesson to paint what thicker.

"De laatste bloemen." Velp, Holland.

It's still one of my favorite garden-centre "Kwekerij Overhagen"

A lovely quiet place where you can experiment or just have a nice
paint out. Autumn is rushing in, but there are still some flowers
trying to keep the summer alive, ... together with some rain it
gives wonderful full colours, ...

"Bloemenmarkt." Utrecht, Holland.

Utrecht is a great city in Holland.
Especially on Saturday, busing with people
and all kind of little markets everywhere.

We had an appointment in a town nearby but I just couldn't
resist to try and capture a little scene of the big city
in the middle of our country.

"Bloemenmarkt." Utrecht, Holland.
(Flowermarket.) Oil on board.

"Jachthaven De Engel." De Steeg, Holland.

Went to De Steeg today, because the local
newspaper and news channel reported that the
low water level was quite extreme over there.
It turned out to be a little exaggerated, compared
to the harbours in Nijmegen or Arnhem.

I found a nice view of a shipyard instead, a bit complex
but a nice practice.

(Shipyard The Angel.) Oil on panel.
