10 minutes painting 5 minutes running, .... luckily I found some shelter out of the wind, and there was some kind of stairway that I used quite well, ... hehehe
"IJzige morgen." Arnhem, Holland. (Ice morning.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.
Due to the holidays I guess I will be painting a bit less, ... When I do I will upload them but then again, I am planning to get out of town a few days as well, so no Internet connection for me.
As said the day before yesterday, I promised to show one of the other work I made last Thursday. I started this one even earlier, ... last Friday to be exact but it went so dark so soon that I had to stop. Luckily grey days never change so I could take it up right where I left, ...
It's a bit abstract, but I do like that. The line between real and abstract is always a strange and narrow one and not only in plein air work.
Saw police men defending a Christmas-tree in Greece today, who can imagine that for example?! > Here <
"Hielkje." Arnhem, Holland. (Hielkje.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.
It is fun, painting all kind of night scenes, nocturnes that is. And I guess Holland is a good place to do it, very light polluted, ....
One of the great advantage is that the light hardly changes so everybody who's asking what I am doing is a victim, because I am well dressed against the cold, so after a few minutes you can see they are cooling down, after another few minutes they try to end the chat, hehehe
I am bad, ... lol. "Tegenover de boom." Westervoort, Holland. (Facing the tree.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.
At least it isn't a grey day, ... Fog is nice to paint, all mysterious shapes and forms. A bit tricky because you never know when it's going to lift, if it does at all, ...
"Wilg en mist." Westervoort, Holland. (Willow and fog.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.
P.s. After reviewing the photos i took, I tweaked the painting a little, tried to get a little more fog into it.
I passed this school so often, can't remember how many times that is, but each time I thought "I have to paint it someday!" Today was the day, ...
It's an old time school, many of these schools are already teared down or out of commission, this is one of them, they only use it as teaching room for art class or as studios for artist or something else.
Here it's an art class Atelier Creso named, they even have a website.
It snowed the whole day today, but not real snow just white stuff that melts right away when it hits the ground. Pity, because I was in Doesburg, a very old city and what would be more fun to paint then a very old town completely covered in a white blanket?
"Toch een beetje sneeuw." Doesburg, Holland. (Even though a little bit of snow.)Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.
This was the scene I had in my mind a week ago "Morgenpad." Not as spectacular as I had in mind, but well worth trying to paint. Notice the little track on the right side, .. that's the same as from the earlier painting together with the tree.
"Morgenstrepen." Westervoort, Holland. (Morningstripes.) Oil on panel. 24 x 30 cm.

Colour, Obsession, Joy and Torment The Daily Painters Art Gallery 2008
From around the globe, 146 artists gathered in cyberspace. We donned our best berets, and set out with our paintbrushes and easels in one hand, and our computers in the other. Our mission? To bring you the world, one brushstroke at a time.
We traveled abroad, and explored our own back yards. We walked through farms and gardens, cities and factories. We sat for a while in restaurants, bars and cafés. We rummaged through kitchen cabinets and tool sheds. We strolled on sandy beaches and sat on the docks, meandered through forests and climbed mountains. Sometimes we journeyed through worlds of our own imagination.
We painted our world, in all its splendor. Friends and families, strangers and crowds, caught forever in everyday poses and outlandish outfits. Dogs, cats, fish and birds frozen in time. Cows in lush meadows and colorful bears. Scenic panoramas and tiny flowers. Fast cars, old trucks, boats small and large, and bicycles. Peaches, pears, cherries, peanut butter sandwiches - admired and then devoured. Vases and bowls, tools and toys, arranged in just the right light. We captured children playing and loved ones napping. We painted our favorite pastimes, secret places, and childhood memories. And, we recorded more than a few sunrises and sunsets.
We delighted in the colors, obsessed over the details, laughed in joy, and even endured a few private moments of torment. Then, we logged onto our blogs to share our experiences with you. Turn the page for a glimpse into our worlds, or visit dailypainters.com for new visions every day.

Although this was done yesterday (been to busy today with other things) It was very cold, ... even had to run up and down the shipyard to warm up a bit several times.
