Still trying the new palette, ...

Did tried it today again with Mencks palette and I am getting used
to it, more or less. What I've noticed that you learn to see a little different.
I mean everybody who has painted with a colleague knows that his or her
colour usually are somewhat different then yours and this palette forces me
to see some colors slightly different, ... Kevin Menck mentions it's all about
values, values & values and solid drawing of course, ... and how right he is!

You can turn your TV set on black and white and still watch it, but turn
the contrast up or down and gonne is the picture, ...
Anyway I made two today and I am quiet happy with them.
Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks Jani,

As I said on FB,

"Thank you all so much!
Very much appreciated indeed!
It is soo hard to judge your own work on this level, ... I guess artist are blind when it comes to their own work, and I am really starting to think that each artist has his own reality, what's reality in this matter at all???"

I like it.
Seems that there's more depth or contrast to the images.
Will be keeping an eye on this.

Hi Rene I deleted my earlier comment as I realized how stupid I had been in not reading your words further. I am stunned to learn that you only used three colours in you work. That is outstanding given the clarity you achieve. I have to say that I agree with other comments that the change makes the images seem even fresher than before. It might been the palette change or spring, I do not know, but they look great...Paul

I agree with the others that there seems to be more depth in these new paintings.
As for work work mixing colours, isn't that good?
Getting too comfortable with colours and subject matter is the bane of the artist, non?
New challenges promote growth and learning.
Regardless, I see your style in the new as clearly as in the old. Both are a pleasure to see. They inspire me to simplify/loosen up as well as paint better. :-)
Thank you for that.
Robert

I think the new palette is working well. It suits those rich darks that you like to paint.
