Kwekerij Hof te Dieren. Holland.

Today I made a long tour with my bike,
I think all in one a 40 km. to think
of it that I also climbed "De Posbank" again
It could so be 45 or 50 km.

One spot I painted today was in a garden-centre
"Hof te Dieren." A bit like "Overhagen" where I
painted sometimes. In fact they are related the owner
of this garden-centre is a sister in law of the other.

So here you see, Holland IS a small country!!

Worst painting ever!!! Holland.

Sometimes you just don't have it in you,
Today it was my turn, everything went wrong
the setup, a tree standing in the way, too many people
asking and looking, ... aaaah just horrible.

But then again, this means I am still human, and do
have to learn a lot. And that's not a bad thing because
I like to learn, paint and discover new spots.

"Geen titel." Bemmel, Holland.
(Untitled.) Oil on board.

"Looking back home." Holland.

With my new bike it's eeuhm easy to get covered way more area
in a short time, one example of that is this painting, I think this is
one of the highest point in my country "De Posbank." (110 m. above sea-level)
A great view towards my hometown, you can see it on the painting
(there where the smoke is coming out of the waste-furnish-factory(?))

"Kijkend naar huis." Posbank, Holland.
(Looking at home) Oil on board.

The cross. Holland.

Weird, I don't know why I went inside this cemetery
but this was a great view, so I went for it.

"Het kruis." Zevenaar, Holland.
(The cross.) Oil on board.
18 x 24 cm.

While painting a black woman came and started to speak to
me in English, what I was doing and if I did it for fun and so on.
After a while she went along her own way, but then she came back
and said that she had to say that I had to reflect even more of my
own into my work, at least that was what she heard. I asked what
she mend and she repeated her statement, and said that she had to
leave it by that, .... weird. But somewhere it felt soo friendly
so comforting. She could be a friend, that's how it felt, .... weird.

Boat washing. Holland.

Got lucky today,
I went to the shipyard again right on the other side of the IJssel.
A worker was placing a huge plastic shield, I asked what the meaning of it was, ....
He was going to wash the boat.
Not immediately, so I painted the scene and waited for him to get started.
Again lucky me he started on the other side,
so I had some change to make little black & white sketches from him,
and placed one of them in my scene.

By the time he was "really" in the scene I only had to concentrate on the water vapour, .....

So here you go:

Goodbye Summer. Holland.

It's been a wonderful weekend here in Holland,
a real what you call an "Indian summer".
Everything turning into autumn colors, seeds are forming
and some flowers try to greet the last warm sunlight.

A gorgeous day to be around, in a thankful feeling.

Bike trial, ... "Being watched." Holland.

It was gorgeous weather today, so hoppa "bike trial!"
Not to far though, my but still hurts from the time going
to Nijmegen. But I found this little railroad bridge.
During painting there where lots of people biking and walking
under the bridge, and that made me think of Lee Harber a great
painter in New York who paints people so happy and colorful its a joy
to watch his paintings makes your heart pound a little faster.

Autumn is coming. Holland.

I have got a NEW bike,

eeuhm not entirely new but for me at least.
My bike is black & white.

Today I made a trial run on it, and visited Jos in Nijmegen (20km. from Westervoort) to show him and paint together in Nijmegen. The autumn color starting to reappear already but it's still nice weather to paint outside with not to much clothing on.

The old Jewish graveyard. Holland.

Last Friday we past this large building at the entrance of
the graveyard we went, on the wall there was a plate with the text:

"De stof keert weder tot de Aarde zoals zij was
en de ziel keert weder tot God die haar gegeven heeft."

(The ash turns back to the Earth where she became
and the soul returns to God who has given her.)

Pred. XII. 7

Today I had to go back to paint this special place,
its an old Jewish cemetery, and the people who live
in the building invited me for a cup of coffee, and a tour
around the graveyard, such a lovely, soft feeling it gave.
Something like everything is just right.
