Under the Leilinden. Holland.

Today I stayed a little closer to home,
have to do some jobs around the house, ....

"Onder de Leilinden." Westervoort, Holland.
(Under the Leilinden.) Oil on board.
18 x 24 cm. (sold.)

These are so called "Leilindes."

In the earlier days they grew them for the shade
and against the insects. The flowers are very suckered
and sticky so much insects get trapped in these trees.
As for a parking lot, these trees are a disaster.
You can imagine what all that sticky stuff does to
your car, ....

Hi Rene,
you've had a pretty active summer as I can see. I have enjoyed looking at all the new paintings you had up. I think they represent the Dutch atmosphere perfectly, the silvery light, the subdued colors. Sometimes I miss the famous Dutch skies even when it's cloudy here, it's not the same as clouds over Holland!

Wow, Thank Marina, nice to visit my blog. Yeah you possible right about those clouds, although when living here you stop noticing them at a certain time, ... except for the typical Dutch ones that is.

Nice and tide indeed Rob, ... it was fun to paint though. The owner of that window (and house) sold the painting, had a nice chat and a cup of coffee after while, so, a great morning.
