"Gegeten roer." Rheden, Holland.

I know, I know never paint something strange,
people will not read it as you mend.
But I couldn't resist this strange rudder, all
eaten away by water and fungi.

Hmm strange, well, for sure i like it if you take a detail from the boat. And over here everything is still recognizable I think.
Like the painting, kerel!

glad you did paint something "strange"--IMO it's a better painting for it.

pesraonally I like the contrast of hard in the foreground & soft in the background.

bravo.

I thought about that, 'never paint something strange'. I think you can paint the weirdest things and still make it look good. If you can fool your eyes with a photograph, you can do it with a painting.

I think it has to do with making the reflection of the light areas in the rudder very symmetrical, you've got to show the axis of the reflection to make it believable.

Don't let it stop you ;)
