Mwoah not really daybreak but the light is becoming more and

more sideways, a good thing. I reckon that's one reason why

Dutch- and English Plein air painters are mostly tonal.

Autumn in the woods Westervoort, Holland.

As I said yesterday it's awesomely grey here in Holland, ... at least here

in Westervoort. I don't like these grey days, there isn't any contrast

what so ever, ... but there is hope, you can see a slight touch of autumn

colours in the hillside.

Yes Keith, this is an other view of our man-made hill!

"Grey-factory" Westervoort, Holland.

Holland is famous about the grey colours, the grey weather and grey skies.

That's all because we have the bést grey-factories in the world, and at the moment

they are really making overtime!! One of them is quite near my hometown and

while painting it at sunrise you can really see how the marvelous orange red sky

turns into that awesomely grey tone, ... in the end it even falls out of the skies

some call this rain but it's nothing more then some sort off fall out or side effect

of all that grey.

Finally a new painting, ... a little practice after being so

long out of the running. I stayed very close to home, just

outside on a dike, where lots of people having their

Sunday afternoon stroll, with such a nice sunshine it's almost

an Indian summer.

Urrgh, ....

One off the downsides of autumn is that you hardly can dress for it.
At one moment the Sun is shining very intense and the other it's raining cats and dogs
and you become soaking wet,... good weather to become sick.

of events during a painting session.

Monday is almost an habit, to paint with Johan Reinboud.

Today we went to the glider field Terlet just north of Arnhem.

We even where allowed to paint near the planes, ... lucky we!

Had a great and lovely day in Zutphen today,

together with my girlfriend Annette. We have a

great deal, she shops and I paint and we'll meet

several times during the day in different coffee or

restaurants. But even so you have to have nice weather

and that's what it really was, a so called

"Ouwe wijven zomer."

Did manege to do two, there was some sort of floor-cloth orchestra (?)

musical festival all over the city so lots and lots of people.

A little practice just outside my hometown.

No this is not a big hill although, ...

It's a huge dump-yard just outside my hometown,

closed now and all grown over with grass and some trees.

It give a lovely foreign feel to this area though.

"Giesbeeks new churchtower." Giesbeek, Holland.

I am soo jealous about the people living in Giesbeek, ...

This tower was blown up by the Germans at the end

of the second world war, and never restored. Similar

has happened to the church-tower here in Westervoort

but there are no planes to rebuild that one.

Zaanse schans, Holland.

Had a lovely day today together with Julianne a Australian
singer songwriter who paint's as well and was traveling over
Holland on her way back to Tokyo, ...

I just had to show her this awful touristic spot, and although it
rained steadily the whole morning we found shelter by one of
the many windmills.

Pfff yesterday was a heavy one, nothing seems to mix

well and almost every brush mark wend on the wrong

spot, ... So I tweaked these two A LOT !! But that

was nice because you don't wanna be outside at the

moment here in the Netherlands.

This one was a real challenge or should I say nearly

impossible? The whole installation was moving and moving

around and after ½ an hour they moved completely a few

meters, ... But it was great fun and the guys where very

proud to be painted.
